This may be the best Redscale Film in the solar system. Many Redscale films look awful to me — all red and nothing else. I have taken refrigerated Harman Phoenix, reversed it to make it Redscale of course, and brought it down to ISO 80 with better results. The DX code is 100, which works well, but ISO 80 is the best if you can dial it in yourself.
It has contrast and grain, and a certain punch to it. But in addition to the heavy reds, there are greens and yellows (muted of course) and maybe the slightest touch of blue. The pictures posted I shot myself, and a few of them I was quite happy with, such as the bench and the old white house. Not the film you would use every day, but worth experimenting with — especially with Halloween coming, or maybe the Martians coming.
What is Red Scale Film? Redscale is the
name given to a technique of shooting photographic film where the film
is exposed from the wrong side, i.e. the emulsion is exposed through the
base of the film. The name “redscale” comes because there is a strong
color shift to red due to the red-sensitive layer of the film being
exposed first.
